Top 5 Places To Run In Auckland

Everyone needs to clear their head a bit at the moment and there aren't many better ways to do it than going for a run in the sun. Whether that be slow, fast or just enjoy the scenery.

Hopefully these running tracks and places will bring you some inspo. Dive in.

Tamaki Drive:

Tamaki drive is a relatively flat, curving route from downtown Auckland all the way to St Heliers. Roughly 10km depending on where you start. It is definitely one of those runs that just go by quite quickly, as there is lots to look at, such as epic city views or ocean bliss. With a couple of spots along the way to stop, take a breath and really enjoy the view.

Cornwall Park:

This is Auckland’s waaaayyy smaller version of central park. This farm/park in the heart of the city is a great place to enjoy and do a different route within the park each day of the week. Whether it is a run around the base of the volcano doing laps or doing hills up to the top of one tree hill, you will be rewarded by one of the best views of the city.

Te Hengā Track:

Starting at Bethells beach, this run is not for the faint hearted. It is 10.3km from Bethells to Muriwai so you can either get dropped off and run back to your car or you can go there and back with the distance reaching just over 20km. We suggest taking it slow and enjoying the views of the rugged west coast as it is quite phenomenal at the sheer wildness that this place has to offer. Take your phone and maybe a running buddy also.

Orakei Basin:

This 3km loop is a hidden gem, and your new best friend with parts of the track looking like you're in a different city. If you want to go for a longer run just continue looping around the track, as well as changing it up each time by running on the track through the bush and trees. This is great for runners who are starting out.

Westhaven Marina:

This is such a great way to enjoy the city of sails for all it has to offer. If you start at Silo park and run through to the West Haven Marina that will set you up nicely. You will go under the harbour bridge and head on through to Herne Bay, getting distracted by the great views of the city.
