Hear from Dani Ford a CrossFit Champ and Firefighter!

Who you are and what you do?

I’m Dani Ford, a CrossFit athlete training out of Mount CrossFit and Ground project. I live in both Tauranga and Auckland, I have a husky named Dory and my memory is about as good as the fish off Finding Nemo.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My day to day changes depending on my shifts at work, but some staples are lots of food, an Innerbloom oat latte to kickstart my day and then gym time, and a puppy walk of course.

How do you keep health and wellness at the forefront of your day to day life?

I believe balance is ultimately the key to most things, being healthy is more than just eating good and exercising. It’s about all the noise in your head. More often than not training and eating good isn’t the easy option but I KNOW that my mental health will thank me for the sweat and endorphins.

What drew you towards wanting to be a Firefighter?

I loved the idea of working in a close team that become like your family, problem solving, and getting to do physical and hard things that help people.

What is something you are most proud of in your life?

So far, I’m proud to be creating a life that I actually enjoy.

What is a piece of advice you have received that you still use to this day?

Don’t be a dick, it’s simple and effective 😂

What is your favourite Innerbloom flavour and why?

Ohhh easily to the oat latte, that shit is so good! I’m an oat latte at a cafe so having an iced one in the fridge ready for any time makes me feel pretty happy.

What is in store for Dani in 2024 and beyond?

Ohhhh that’s a tough one, I have no idea what I’m doing (ask my friends). It will be my best CrossFit season yet competitively, I’ve been slowly building the best team around me to be successful and the truth is environment is everything. Outside of CrossFit I’ll just keep pursuing opportunities that come my way and make me happy.
